Rockley Golf Club Golf ourse is the oldest course in Barbados. Created in the 1920's, it can also, in a certain way, claim to be the Island's first airport.
Just to the right of the fifth green, you'll find a plaque commemorating the landing of the first airplane ever to land in Barbados, when on March 29th, 1929 Captain Lancaster arrived on the fifth fairway in his Avro Avian from St Lucia, after a flight originating in Toronto, Canada, naturally calling at most of the Caribbean Islands en route.
Today 'Rockley' is a pretty parkland course, flat but surprisingly tricky, calling for some good straight iron play all the way around. And, in the '19th' Hole you will find a warm welcome from the local members and the excellent bar staff. The apartment 'Bunker Edge' is a shareholder in the golf course company, which allows guests staying in the apartment to enjoy playing golf at up to 25% off published rates.
